Construction equipment manufacturer JCB announced plans to develop and manufacture its own 4 and 6 L diesel engines specifically for use in its line of off-highway equipment. The engines, which will comply with future worldwide emissions requirements, are to be developed in close partnership with Ricardo, AVL, Cosworth and Krause. The engine development team is located at an existing JCB factory in Staffordshire, U.K. Production of the engines is planned for the early part of 2005. The company also said that it will continue to source 1, 1.5 and 2 L diesel engines from Perkins for the foreseeable future.
