...integration (on-board signal conditioning), high reliability and repeatability, for such applications as blood pressure measurement.

The sCAP MEMS BAP sensor leverages signal conditioned variable capacitive silicon sensor technology that has amassed years of field service in high-volume automotive applications. The design of the sensor die-which measures only 1.2 x 1.5 mm (.047 x 0.60")-can be readily configured into the required final package specifications.

In Kavlico's MEMS silicon capacitive sensor, capacitance varies with applied external pressure. The on-chip signal conditioning circuitry electronically converts the capacitance values into a high DC voltage output span of 1 VDC, thereby simplifying the integration of the sensor into the application.

Kavlico notes that, compared to typical piezoresistive sensors, the sCAP 1 offers key advantages, such as lower power consumption, higher stability and repeatability, as well as smaller size and ease of integration benefits.

Monitoring high blood pressure and preventing serious disease is becoming increasingly vital, Kavlico notes, since between 10% and 40% of the population have concerns about high...
