Dale Larson - a Batavia man who has been blind for the past five years - always has a friend to lead him in the right direction.

"Come on, Joey," he said, while taking the harness grip fit around the black Labrador after finishing work Friday. "Lead the way, pal."

The dog moved slowly enough through the doorway at IBT Services near downtown Batavia to enable Larson to exit easily. A friend from work, Pete Jones of Geneva, drove him home.

Larson has been known to outpace other pedestrians when he and his dog get moving.
