Rally scoring is making its debut in Illinois high school volleyball.

The new scoring system means points are now recorded every time the ball touches the floor, regardless of which team is serving.

In the past, only the serving team could score points.

Matches will be a best-of-three games, each to 25 points (must win by 2 points).

Other changes include let serves (serves can touch the net as long as they fall on the opposite side) and double hits will be allowed while receiving first hits over the net.
