We denizens of the Long Gray World are happier than most to see Brother Sun return from his long voyage to Everywhere Else But Here. However, we're never quite sure how long he will stick around.

Neither were the ancient Celts - who also had some experience with endless winters under weeping skies - but they did something about it. They welcomed "the bright half of the year" with with lusty games and bonfires in the hills.

And if you're not too busy mowing your lawn, pulling weeds or working on your tan, you can, too.

The seventh annual Celtic Bealltuinn (pronounced bell-tune) Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday in the Howard Buford Recreation Area at the base of Mount Pisgah, off Seavey Loop Road south of Springfield.
