Alongside bills and junk mail, a very different type of correspondence will soon begin arriving in the mailbox for voters across Lane County and throughout Oregon.

Ballots for the May 18 primary election are to be mailed starting today, which means most Lane County registered voters will receive them between Saturday and next Wednesday, said Annette Newingham, Lane County's elections official.

"If people do not receive their ballots by Wednesday, then they certainly should give us a call," she said. The elections office number is 682-4234.

Ballots will need to be returned by mail to the elections office or deposited in dropoff boxes by 8...
