Brandt Thissell threw a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and Aaron Butchas hit a two-run home run as host Waldport knocked Monroe out of a first-place tie with an 8-1 Trico League prep baseball win Thursday.

Beau Biron had two doubles for the Irish (10-2 Trico), who trail first-place Harrisburg by a half-game. Nick Mooers was 2-for-4 with a double, and Kris Smith and Nick Payne combined for 10 strikeouts for the Dragons (10-3), who dropped into third place.

Brian Bodtker pitched a no-hitter with six strikeouts in six innings and was also 2-for-3 as Harrisburg (13-4, 11-2 Trico) moved into sole possession of first place with a 10-0 victory over visiting Jefferson.

Aaron Duncan was 2-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBIs, and Dan Kennedy was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Harrisburg.

Quinlan Anderson was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Jacob Egan had two hits and two RBIs to lead McKenzie to a 12-2 win over visiting Mapleton.

Ryan Harbick added two hits and an RBI for McKenzie. Bekah Evanson was 2-for 2 with an RBI for Mapleton.
