Four years had passed since Michelle Bradley had seen her daughter pitch.

Those four long years included the rocky senior year of high school the two went through together in Canada and the two years her daughter spent at a junior college in Arizona.

Bradley had planned on seeing her before but had trouble getting off work. So on Friday, April 16, the British Columbia native made sure to get the day off and traveled across the border to watch the Oregon softball team face Washington in Seattle.

And when the Ducks were announced on the field, and Ani Nyhus' name was called, a familiar motherly voice cheered loudly from the stands much to the surprise and delight of the daughter.

"Tears came right away," Nyhus said. "I had no idea she was going to be there. That was big."

Bradley was overwhelmed by the magnitude of her first collegiate game, which included the Washington band and passionate fans.

"I was blown away by everything," Bradley said. "I was so nervous that I got up and walked around three or four times. It was probably the best experience I've had...
