Before sitting down to write about my experiences at the March for Women's Lives in Washington, D.C., last Sunday, I checked the mirror to see if I fit syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker's crowd description (Register-Guard, April 28): "ugly to uglier in demeanor ... so many so unattractive ... carnival of the grotesque."

Allow me to offer the viewpoint of a 60-ish, semi-retired schoolteacher and her superintendent-of-schools spouse.

The marchers weren't "crude, profane or hostile" revelers, but a cross section of America in every positive aspect, including a plethora of ages, income levels, professions, ethnic groups, interests, shapes, colors and sizes, from every state!
