While the Padres strung together a few more wins this month and took on more of a spoiler role, this has to be one of the more disappointing--possibly the worst--seasons in the team's 35-year history.

It's not the kind of season the team was hoping for as it bids good-bye to Qualcomm Stadium and looks ahead to playing at Petco Park next season.

After its July 23 loss to the Cardinals, the Padres maintain a firm grip on last place with a 39-64 record, a .379 winning percentage, equaling some of the club's worst seasons in the early 1970s.

Losing has translated to fewer fans. Through July 24, total attendance at the Q reached 1.34 million, an average of 24,821 per game. That's 16 percent below the turnout for the same 54...
