Pupils are benefiting from increasingly creative teaching in the arts, according to two new two reports published by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted), today.

Expecting the unexpected: developing creativity in primary and secondary schools and Improving city schools: how the arts can help, identify the ways in which students can flourish in a teaching environment that promotes creativity and allows students to take more control of their learning.

In Expecting the unexpected: developing creativity in primary and secondary schools, inspectors found that a high percentage of creative work in schools was at least good, with around twenty percent being exceptionally good.

Inspectors saw a range of exciting and innovative lessons taking place during the survey. Creative teaching and innovative approaches were seen both in discrete lessons...
