For his 18th birthday, Bryan Hansen gave himself a complete-game victory over the No. 1 team in the state.

The Sheldon senior also had two hits, an RBI and a run scored as the Irish defeated top-ranked Churchill 5-3 in nine innings during Midwestern League baseball Wednesday afternoon at Churchill High School.

"I don't really know how to put it. It's amazing," Hansen said after a handful of Sheldon fans serenaded him with "Happy Birthday."

Sheldon sophomore Micah McJunkin hit a two-out, two-run double in the top of the ninth to break a 3-3 tie, and then Hansen retired the Lancers in order in the bottom of the inning to finish off his longest outing of the season.
