Stanley Wojniak

Stanley L. Wojniak of Eugene died April 25. He was 86. His family chose not to list the cause of death.

Wojniak was born on Nov. 22, 1917, in Wendling to Leon and Angela Stawowczych Wojniak. He married Regina Gallagher in Eugene on Nov. 24, 1949. She died in 1969.

He attended Wendling School and graduated from Mohawk High School in 1935.

He served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater for four years during World War II and attained the rank of chief radarman. He also served in the Korean War for 16 months.

He worked in the accounting department for Booth Kelly Lumber Co. in Wendling and Springfield for 25 years. He also worked for Georgia-Pacific Corp. for 23 years in Springfield, Eugene and Portland. He retired in 1982.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and served as a Cub master and as chairman of a Boy Scout troop.

Survivors include two sons Wayne of Arvada, Colo., and Stephen of Eugene; two daughters, Janis Smith of Oakland, Calif., and Linda Shorter of Davenport, Iowa; a sister Mary Ruthven of Junction City; six grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

No service is planned. Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.

COTTAGE GROVE - George W. Marquart of Cottage Grove died April 23 of age-related causes. He was 85.

Marquart was born Nov. 17, 1918, in North Dakota to Miles and Lillie Marquart. He married Barbara Hargrave in Walla Walla, Wash., on Sept. 30, 1967. She died...
