One day after three softball teams moved into a first-place tie in the Mid-Suburban East, another one made its move for the top, too.

Rolling Meadows closed to within a half game of co-leaders Elk Grove, Hersey and Prospect with a dramatic 5-4 comeback win in eight innings over visiting Hoffman Estates on Thursday.

The Mustangs, who tied the game at 4-4 with a run in the bottom of the seventh, improved to 9-13 and 5-4 in the East, a half-game behind the front-runners (5-3).

The home team knew exactly what was on the line Thursday.

"We talked about it before the game," said sophomore pitcher Hannah Martin, who went all 8 innings.
