To keep things simple, the Tom Pitchford-Hersey 32 Team Invite officially begins the run toward the state championship.

The "32", as everyone in and around boys tennis calls it, is the mega-tournament of all tennis tourneys as a veritable "Who's Who" of singles and doubles players converge on the area for two grueling days to either make an impression or to impress one more time.

The top 16 at Nos. 1 and 2 singles and doubles were seeded Monday by tournament director Matt Norris and his committee and beginning today at 2 p.m. at various sites around the area and ending Saturday at Hersey, champions will be crowned and questions will begin to be answered.

"Up until now, most teams have been juggling and re-working their lineups during weekend tournaments," said Highland Park coach Steve Rudman. "At the '32', that all pretty much stops.
