Companies and agencies that were able to afford sophisticated virus protection were able to fend off the recent outbreak of the SoBig virus that began invading computers last week and the Blaster worm that hit earlier in the month.

Those that didn't fell victim to a barrage of infected e-mails and sudden computer system crashes.

According to information technology experts, the key to solving the problem of the escalating number of viruses and their variants is to layer anti-virus software protection by using one or more brands and increasing updates.
