PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local AIRPORTS THAILAND PCL recently awarded a hotel construction contract to ITALIAN-THAILAND DEVELOPMENT PLC (ITD) of Thailand. According to the terms of the award ITD will be responsible for building a 600-room hotel at Thailand's new international airport.

In so doing, the construction of the hotel will be divided in 2 phases. The first phase of 500 rooms is expected to be completed in July 2005, while the second phase of 100 rooms will be ready by 2009. As a result, the new hotel will commence operations at the same time as the opening of the new Suvarnabhumi Airport by October 2005.

The cost of the project, that doesn't seem like much, amounts to $51,000,000.

ITALIAN-THAI employs a total staff of about 18,300 and acts as a holding company. The group is engaged in contracting in the infrastructure area including buildings and plants, telecommunications, highways and bridges as well as railways, pipelines, steel fabrication and related land development.
