While waiting for her parents to pick her up after school one day, second-grader Katie Koranda became worried and started to panic.

It was her little brother Robert, a kindergartner, who comforted her.

"I started to cry, but not Robbie. He was so strong and brave. He reassured me our parents would come," Katie Tanaka recalled during a memorial service Wednesday for Robert August Koranda.
