Beijing -- Lucent Technologies today announced that it has won two contracts in China to provide Lucent's industry-leading optical networking solutions to Guangdong Eastern Fibernet Company (GEFC). Lucent's solutions will be used for the expansion of GEFC's Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks in Guangdong Province. Shanghai Tiantong Telecommunications Equipment Co., LTD, a Lucent Business Partner, has provided pre-sales support on both projects and will deliver the equipment to GEFC.

Lucent's next-generation optical networking systems, will enable GEFC to construct a reliable, high-speed network and offer its customers new services over the broadband network.

For the project, LambdaUnite MSSs will be deployed to form the core ring of the SDH network in the cities of Guangzhou, JiangMmn and Shenzhen. This will connect the metro rings formed by the Metropolis ADM in Zhaoqing, Zhanjiang, Jieyang, Shantou and Huizhou. Lucent also will deploy the WaveStar ITM-SC network management system to help...
