Altria Group, Inc. Fosters Innovation and Collaboration In New Program to Help End Hunger Among the Elderly; ''Community Coalitions'' Grants to Fund 15 Partnerships To Improve Vital Food Services for Nation''s Seniors.

NEW YORK, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- To help end hunger among the nation's frail elderly, Altria Group, Inc. has awarded more than $1.2 million in grants to 15 non-profit partnerships across the country through Altria's new Senior Helpings Community Coalitions grant program. The senior citizens who will be served by these organizations face physical or financial challenges that prevent them from obtaining regular, nourishing meals.

Altria designed the Community Coalitions initiative to foster new and existing community partnerships devoted to developing long-term hunger relief solutions in their areas. The partnerships supported by the new grants encourage non-profit organizations to explore new ways to create efficient, cost-effective methods for pooling resources and sharing best practices in order to best serve the aging population in their communities.
