Touchstone magazine reports in a recent issue on a London Times interview with the Anglican bishop of Oxford. The bishop thinks Christians should tone down some of the things that Jesus said because they might offend modern people, even revolt them, and thereby discourage them from joining the Church.

"People who are groping their way into Christianity can suddenly find themselves shocked and horrified, though they may be too polite to express such feelings," says the bishop.
