A number of you have asked me what it was like on my `book tour' this summer, so I'll tell you.

First, I've been on a `book tour' in the same way a man canoeing the millrace has been on an "exotic cruise." Mostly, I've spoken to lots of service clubs - the "Pledge of Allegiance" is now almost the daily experience it was in grade school - and done lots of "book signings," a sometimes inaccurate phrase in that it suggests - "signings," plural - that you sold more than one book.
