If Eugene Mayor Jim Torrey really does have the wherewithal to raise up to $250,000 between now and Nov. 2 to finance a write-in campaign against Kitty Piercy, it would demolish the previous spending record for a mayor's race.

Torrey told reporter Edward Russo last week that he thought the potential support for his re-election bid could yield $200,000 to $250,000 in contributions.
