Navy leaders are discussing whether to move ships from the Atlantic to the Pacific, raising the question of whether San Diego will become home port to any more of the fleet.

Nothing is certain, a Pacific Fleet spokesman warned last week.

But an admiral's remarks about a possible transfer of ships in May have created a stir in port communities from the middle of the Pacific to the Atlantic coast.
