New USDA program helps build health care facilities.

CLEVELAND -- Last month, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) leaders broke ground on Cleveland Personal Care Home, the first project of its kind in Mississippi funded in part by a new rural development loan program.

The 78-unit personal care facility serving the elderly and handicapped in the Delta was the first loan under the Guaranteed Rural Rental Housing Program, which falls under the Section 538 program. USDA leaders in Washington, D.C., approved the $3.69-million loan -- USDA Rural Development guarantees 90% -- with input from the state's congressional delegation and USDA state director Nick Walters.
