CANTON -- Allison Crews spent five years working for Jimmy Heidel at the Mississippi Department of Economic and Community Development, a job she greatly enjoyed. Then her father asked her to consider working with him in the insurance industry.

"I loved working at the Department of Economic Development," says Crews, who is president of Grogan + Crews, an insurance and employee benefits firm. "About five years ago my father asked me to help him in his business to see if I would enjoy it. And I agreed to do that. I've been glad I have done so ever since."

Crews' father, William N. "Bill" Grogan, has been in the life and health insurance industry for more than 35 years. When he first asked her to join the business, she was skeptical.
