AT 34, Kim Ng, vice president and assistant general manager of the Dodgers, has already made a name for herself in a male-dominated world. Named by Sports Illustrated as most likely to break the gender barrier as GM of a Major League Baseball team, Ng (pronounced Ang) was lured to the Dodgers prior to the 2002 season by General Manager Dan Evans. Evans first hired Ng in 1990 as an intern for the Chicago White Sox and later promoted her to assistant director of baseball operations. She was director of waivers and player records for the American League in 1997 before becoming, at 29, the youngest assistant GM in the Big Leagues when she joined the Yankees. She also knows how to play the game; Ng was a star infielder on the University of Chicago's softball team.

Question: What first got you interested in baseball?

Answer: I've always loved baseball, ever since I was a kid. I grew up a Yankees fan, strangely enough, living in Queens with the Mets probably three or four miles away. At the time, the Mets weren't very good and the Yankees were.

Q: Can you offer an example of sexism you've encountered?

A: I've gone into a visiting ballpark and I'm trying to go into the clubhouse...
