Less than four months after his complaint-laced victory in the 100 meters at 2002 Prefontaine Classic track and field show, Tim Montgomery became the "fastest man on earth."

The Nike-sponsored sprinter set the world record of 9.78 seconds in September at the IAAF Grand Prix Final in Paris, replacing Maurice Greene and his former world standard of 9.79 on the planet's sprint throne.

Montgomery, ranked No. 1 in the world by Track & Field News last year, will be back where his record season began, headlining an all-star 100 lineup for the Pre meet on May 24 at Hayward Field.

Also in the field is Kim Collins, ranked No. 4 with a personal record of 9.98; Bernard Williams, ranked No. 6 with a PR of 9.94; Coby Miller, ranked No. 7 with a PR of 9.98; and Jon Drummond, ranked No. 10 with a PR of 9.92.
