MENDENHALL -- Paul H. "Buddy" Barnard was the first in his family to go into the construction business, while William Chalk's father and grandfather both worked in general construction.

While the two have very different backgrounds, they've managed to get along just fine at Barnard & Sons Construction Co., LLC, a company both own and are partners in.

Barnard established the Mendenhall-based Barnard & Sons in 1986, and then in 1991 reorganized it under a new limited liability corporation agreement. Chalk worked for Barnard for some time and in 1996 became a partner in the business.
