RAYMOND AND CLEVELAND -- Of all the offerings from Mississippi's institutions of higher learning; perhaps none is more unique than the commercial aviation programs provided by Hinds Community College (HCC) and Delta State University (DSU). Not only can students earn their wings, they can also earn two-year degrees in aviation technology and avionics, as well as two-year, four-year and even master's degrees in commercial aviation and other aviation-related concentrations, without having to leave the state.

HCC offers two-year degrees in aviation maintenance technology, avionics and commercial aviation. The FAA-certified aviation maintenance program offers hands-on training and provides basic knowledge and skills needed as aircraft maintenance technicians. The avionics degree prepares students to install, inspect, repair and service electronic equipment dealing with communications, instrumentation and navigation systems.
