Elk Grove Village officials have held a hometown parade for years, but it wasn't until they switched it to a night parade in 2000, that they began to attract record size crowds.

The Northwest suburbs' only night parade stepped off Saturday and Elk Grove Village police estimate more than 35,000 people lined the two-mile route down Elk Grove Boulevard.
