Drivers, get ready to start your engines.
It's not the Indianapolis 500, but rather the annual Lake County Tour of Homes.
Forty-two sites - 38 of them with homes ready for touring - are on the scattered-site tour. The remaining sites have information about what will be built.
On a scattered-site tour, you take a list of homes and drive to the houses that interest you.
The exciting feature this year is that seven of the entries are priced at $1 million or more, said Ed Augustin, tour committee chairman.
"That's a first," said Augustin, who is a vice president at Kenneth James Builders.
With a home tour, visitors are welcome whether they are serious buyers or just want to see how the other half lives.
Thus if you are in the market for townhouses priced at $149,000, they're on the tour. Most of the houses featured are single family and are available from the low $200,000s.
Of course, you can also stop in and see the mansions, too.
Homes and sites are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through June 8. All are free except the Orren Pickell Vacation House, priced at $3.65 million in Lake Geneva.
