The Japan-America Society of Mississippi celebrated its first birthday in May and judging from the whirlwind of activities that have taken shape over the past year, members have a lot to celebrate.

Over the past 12 months, enthusiastic members have helped organize a renowned pottery exhibit, gathered together for social, cultural and business events and created an impressive Web site that keeps everyone connected and up-to-date on the latest happenings.

The Japan-America Society of Mississippi was founded on May 2, 2002, as a private, non-profit organization with the mission of promoting greater understanding and cooperation between Japan and Mississippi. The society has so far proved to be a valuable tool for Japanese people who come to work in the state and for the Mississippi companies that employ them. It is also a resource for Mississippians who want to do business with Japan but don't know the culture or where to start.
