The underlying theme of The Minor, a one-show-only play performed Friday night at the University of Oregon, can be summed up in one short phrase, according to the production's director.

"Nye khochu uchitsya," explained Julia Nemirovskaya, an assistant professor of Russian at the UO. "A khochu zhenitsya."

This is the creed of the play's lazy underage namesake, and its meaning - the saying translates roughly into "I'd rather marry than study" - provides the foundation for the play's key message....
