Oregon is on the verge of becoming the only state in the nation without a poison center. The closure, due to occur July 1, would be yet another result of the state's budget crisis. Oregon's financial problems, though severe, are not unique, but nowhere else have poison centers landed on the chopping block - other states have seen that it's foolish to spend a dollar to save a dime. The Legislature should fund the Oregon Poison Center by approving House Bill 2709.
