Wayne Tullar

MARCOLA - Wayne L. Tullar of Marcola died May 21 of complications from a stroke. He was 84.

Tullar was born June 18, 1918, in Springfield to Earl and Bernice Layton Tullar. He married Angie Mellott in 1941. They divorced in 1944.

He was a lifetime resident of this area and graduated from Springfield High School in 1936. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad from 1941 until 1979, when he retired. He lived in the old Marion Apartments in Eugene for 30 years until two years ago when he went to live with his daughter.

In his younger years he enjoyed playing cards, shuffle board and pool with his friends. He also enjoyed spending his vacations in San Francisco, where he attended Giants baseball games and Golden State Warrior basketball games. He was an avid Portland Trail Blazer and Atlanta Braves fan. He especially enjoyed doing things with and for his family, and he will be remembered as a great grandpa.

Survivors include a daughter, Leora Chapman of Marcola; a brother, Gerald of Michigan; two stepbrothers, Don and James Willey, both of Springfield; a sister, Mary Haas of Springfield; three grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

A family memorial gathering will be held later. American Burial & Cremation Alternatives in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the U.S. VFW National Children's Home, 3573 S. Waverly Rd., Eaton Rapids MI 48827.

Kathryn Siebers

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be held June 2 for Kathryn Ruth Siebers of Springfield, who died May 28 of age-related causes. She was 78.

Siebers was born July 15, 1924, in Portland to F. Nairne and Bernice Welborn Siegmund. She married Gordon Siebers in Longview, Wash., on Aug. 16, 1947.

She graduated from R.A. Long High School in Longview in 1942 and from Oregon State College in 1946. She worked as a secretary in an insurance office in Portland. She also worked for the state of Washington in Olympia until 1949.

She lived in Garibaldi, Silverton, Vancouver, Wash., Longview, Olympia, North Bend and Salem before settling in Springfield 46 years ago.

She was a member of the St. Alice Alter Society, the Marist High School Women's Club and St. Paul Catholic Church in Eugene. She enjoyed reading, knitting, baking and playing cards and Yahtzee. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be remembered...
