UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. -- UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Pictures' comedy "Bruce Almighty," starring Jim Carrey, opened in first place at the domestic box office this holiday weekend, taking in a record-setting $85.7 million in its first four days of release and establishing it as the biggest non-sequel opening ever for a comedy (previously held by "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas," which opened to $55.1 million).
