The San Marcos community of San Elijo Hills set out to offer all the amenities of a modern community, while maintaining the spirit and lifestyle of a small town. Both the building industry and San Elijo Hills' residents feel the community has met its goal.
"Many places call themselves masterplanned communities," said Curt Noland, general manager of San Elijo Hills, "but few offer the breadth of amenities, small town character, and traditional design that has made San Elijo Hills a national model for master planning."
The 1,920-acre community, encompassing the highest point of Coastal North County, integrates shopping, homes, schools, and recreation within an ecologically sensitive plan that sets aside more than half of the property as protected open space and parks. The community also offers panoramic ocean views from 26 of its 28 single-family home neighborhoods.
