The longer violinist Kathryn Lucktenberg studies Ludwig van Beethoven's Triple Concerto, the more impressed she is.

"It is a neglected masterpiece. It deserves to be heard every bit as much as the piano concertos and the violin concerto," she says.

"Structurally and in content, it is magnificent. Beethoven in his prime. It's Op. 56, written during the same period (1804) as the `Eroica' Symphony, the first two piano concertos, `Fidelio' and, shortly after, the middle string quartets."

Lucktenberg will play the concerto in the Pacifica Trio with her husband, cellist Steven Pologe and her friend, pianist...
