CORRECTION (ran 4/2/03): Vietnam veteran Richard Archambault said, "It makes you want to get out of the car and punch a girl," about the ire he felt over extreme anti-war signs. The quote was misattributed in a story on page A1 Sunday.

CORRECTION (ran 4/1/03): A headline on Sunday's front page used the incorrect word to describe participants in a march and rally in Eugene. The demonstrators were not protesting. The event was organized to show support for U.S. troops.

Many who marched in a rally Saturday say it's intimidating in Eugene to admit support for the war - never mind publicly expressing approval for George W. Bush's war policies.

The anti-war protesters who have dominated the downtown streets over the past month want to paint supporters into a corner, said organizer Sharon Schulenberg, a Eugene woman who has a son in the U.S. Air Force and another just out of the U.S. Peace Corps.
