PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Taiwan-based ASIA CEMENT CORP. currently operates 3 Chinese cement plants in Jiangxi and Hubei provinces as well as in the Shanghai municipality. And, the company is now gearing-up to build its fourth manufacturing unit. The project, to be implemented in 2 phases, will initially involve investing $100,000,000 to build a complex with an installed production capacity of 1.5 million tons per year (t/y).

The planned complex, to be sited at the Yangluo economic development zone in Wuhan central China's Hubei province, will eventually have a capacity of 3 million t/y. The total cost to complete the development project has been pegged at $400,000,000. In addition, longer-term plans reportedly call for ASIA CEMENT to build more plants on the mainland within the coming decade. In so doing, the company is aiming for a total cement output of 15.8 million t/y.

ASIA CEMENT employs a total staff of about 1,400. The company's main activities include the manufacture and sale of cement, semi-finished cement, ready-mixed concrete as well as ready-mixed concrete admixtures as well as building materials. The corporation, for that matter, is considered to be Taiwan's second largest cement manufacturer.
