New training pilot to support strategic business change The DTI has this week launched a new training scheme for the textiles, clothing and footwear sector. The FAST Forward programme will give manufacturers in the sector direct access to skills training to support changes to their businesses.

The scheme is being piloted by Skillfast-UK, the industry Sector Skills Council, in partnership with the DTI, the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), Small Business Service (SBS) and the DfES. It will deliver vital skills training to employees in the sector, as companies work towards strategic change and delivering on their business plan. The FAST Forward programme will meet up to 75% of the training costs for these businesses - up to a total of GBP10,000 for any one employer....
