Everyone is wringing their hands over budget cuts, while opportunities for immediate local economic stimulus are getting little attention. It will be two to four years before anything the state and federal governments do will have a positive trickle-down effect in Lane County.

It is time for private and public leaders in Lane County, Eugene and Springfield to look within for opportunities to stir up near-term local economic activity.
