One lap, one sprint and that was how the Mid-Suburban West was won Tuesday.

Brian Brodeur of Palatine and Andy Ledvina of Fremd were the combatants as it came down to the final lap of the 1,600-meter relay to determine the division crown.

Brodeur got the baton first from James Thabuteau and immediately built on the lead.

"He went out really fast - faster than I thought he might," Ledvina said of Brodeur.
