In 1812, England was being transformed by the Industrial Revolution. In the town of Nottingham, the introduction of new technology forced the once comfortably-living weavers into the factories. The spring of that year saw the weavers forming a secret guerilla army, ruling the night in Nottingham and surrounding areas. They were very much like another fabled hero of Nottingham, disappearing into the woods and, of course, supported by the local people.
