Mutola will appear in Prefontaine Classic

Maria Mutola, the one-time Eugene/Springfield resident and currently the reigning Olympic and world champion in the women's 800 meters, is scheduled to compete in the Prefontaine Classic on May 24 at Hayward Field.

Mutola is expected to get a run for her money with Jearl Miles Clark, the American record-holder, and Regina Jacobs, who owns the U.S. standard in the 1,000, also entered in the IAAF Grand Prix track and field meet.
