With a nearly unanimous vote on Monday, Bethel school teachers became among the first in Oregon to ratify a contract for the upcoming school year.

The two-year contract, which the school board approved Monday night, freezes teacher salaries at current levels, with the exception of "step" increases for teachers not yet at top scale. Those step increases will be halved in both years of the contract.
