For many years San Diego businessman Jimmy Carter (not to be confuse with the former American president) has operated a popular restaurant and coffee shop (Jimmy Carter's Restaurant) or Fifth Avenue in the Hillcrest area.

It is so popular for brunch on Sunday mornings that people often stand outside waiting for a table. Carter has now opened a second restaurant in the Mission Hills area, Jimmy Carter's Mexican Cafe.
