PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local HINDUSTAN ZINC LTD. (HZL) is currently gearing-up to build a new lead smelter at Chanderihya in Rajasthan, India. In so doing, HZL recently retained the services of Australia-based ASMELT LTD. to help build the facility.

Construction plans call for building a plant with an installed production capacity of 60,000 tons per year. The new facility, of undisclosed cost, will reportedly be designed to treat a mixture of concentrates, ground ore, coming from HZL's own mines and residues from an existing smelter.

As things currently stand, construction work is to begin immediately.

HZL employs a total staff of about 11,900 engaged in exploration, mining, beneficiation, smelting and refining of lead and zinc as well as associated by-products.

AUSMELT operates as a specialized technology company that was established to commercialize the Sirosmelt Top Submerged Lance (TSL) smelting method for base metal ores and concentrates as well as the recovery of high value wastes.
