PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local AGUAS ANDINAS is currently gearing-up to invest $800,000,000 between the years 2000 and 2010 in order to build 3 water plants in Santiago, Chile. The new facilities are intended to enable treating the capital's wastewater. In so doing, the company is initially expected to invest $150,000,000 into its program.

According to Josep Bague, AGUAS ANDINAS General Manager, some 80% of this amount will be used for collecting wastewater for the plants.

AGUAS ANDINAS, formerly known as EMPRESA METROPOLITANA DE OBRAS SANITARIA S.A., employs a total staff of about 1,400. AGUAS ANDINAS, Chile's biggest drinking water company, is a joint venture company owned by France-based SUEZ and AGBAR of Spain. It is engaged in the establishment, construction and operation of public services for the production and distribution of potable water, the collection and disposal of sewage water and other related activities.
